Previous Visits

2023

In June we visited Bere Marsh Farm, Shillingstone, near Blandford. This a followed on from the talk the previous year about the work of Countryside Regeneration Trust.  The evening consisted of a talk about the farm, thier aims and principles, followed by a walk of around one hour around the site.

2022

In September, we had a glorious day with a coach trip to RHS Wisley.  As an affiliated society we had free entry to the gardens, so the only cost was the travel at £15 per person. We had a full coach, and all thoroughly enjoyed this trip.

2019

Castle Gardens

May 22nd there was a visit to Castle Gardens with Cheselborough Garden Club.  Tea and biscuits available and short talk at 6.45 with time to shop afterwards with 25% discount on everything bought. Large items can be delivered free.

RHS Rosemoor

On June 27th there was a day trip to RHS Rosemoor near Great Torrington, an outstanding very large garden in a North Devon valley.  The trip gave plenty of time to wander around these gardens, purchase from their shop and enjoy lunch or afternoon tea in the large cafe/restaurant.  As we are affiliated to the RHS entry to the gardens was free.

2018

Two trips took place in 2018

Lower Severalls Garden & Nursery situated near Crewkerne in Somerset.  An afternoon trip, to include a cream tea, to this cottage garden style venue.  This took place on Wednesday June 20th 2018 in the afternoon.

Pennard Plants, a walled garden in East Pennard, near Shepton Mallett, Somerset.  On Saturday July 28th they had an open day to see their Victorian Walled Garden (in particular their display of Agapanthus).

2017

We had two trips in 2017, both followed on from speakers who came to Mere Garden Club.

Bristol University Botanic Garden  Following February’s excellent talk by Nick Wray, the curator of this garden which is situated north of Bristol, we organised a visit to this exceptional garden on Wednesday July 19th 2017.

The Walled Garden at Longleat  We visited this garden on August 16th, when we sampled the huge variety of Tomatoes and other fruit grown by Matt Simpson.
